A dream that became reality: PM Sponsored child Nanda studies at University

Published: 03/10/2022

When Vicki Sorg, Charity Ambassador of PM We Care, met Nanda and her family during her visit to Mongolia in 2018, she got to know a shy, 17-year-old girl on the brink of adulthood and about to graduate from school. Back then, Nanda lived together with her three siblings and her parents in a small hut. Her mother received a sewing machine from World Vision and a training on how to use it. Cooperating with a local glove manufacturer, they used the support effectively to secure their family’s income. They spent their money first and foremost on their children’s well-being. Nanda, one of 104 sponsored children of PM-International in Mongolia, could attend school and participate in sports competitions thanks to her family’s financial independence. During Vicki’s visit, Nanda talked about her dream of leaving the village, living in the capital Ulaanbaatar and studying at University.

Four years later, in June 2022 Vicki and Nanda met again in Luxembourg. The shy school girl turned into a self-confident and independent 20-year-old woman who stood on stage at the World Management Congress and spoke to 3,500 PM-International Team Partners about how her life changed for the better. After Vicki met her in 2018, she successfully graduated from school, left her home village and her family to live and study at the University of Ulaanbaatar.

Nanda has been a World Vision and PM-International sponsored child for 12 years. Her life changed for the better because of YOU! Thanks to our Team Partners and customers generous support throughout the years, Nanda had the privilege to attend school, go to University and learn a job as the first out of four children in the family. By giving her family the opportunity to make extra income, they no longer live in a hut but have a small house now.
